Respect at work is integral to the core values held by Hutchison Ports UK (HPUK). In 2023 HPUK began work to establish a ‘Respect at Work Charter’. The ‘Respect at Work Charter’ is a shared commitment about how we all treat each other at work and applies across all levels and to all roles.

The Charter provides clarity and certainty on the behaviours expected from everyone in the workplace. The behaviours outlined in the ‘Charter’ for our employees also apply to contractors, hauliers and anyone visiting the port site.

Please see downloadable documents that expand on how we expect our employees and other people, whether working or visiting the port, to behave towards one another and the types of behaviours that will not be tolerated. Posters of the HPUK ‘Respect at Work Charter’ are displayed across the business as a reminder of our shared commitment and behavioural expectation.

Our Core Principles for a Safe and Respectful Workplace:

  • Everyone who comes to a HPUK site whether for work or visiting should feel safe, heard, valued, and treated with respect.
  • HPUK has a ZERO-TOLERANCE policy regarding bullying and harassment, whether verbal, sexual, written, physical or online.
  • If you work for HPUK or are on the port site, you must follow the HPUK principles for ‘Respect at Work.’ If there is evidence that these principles are not being followed, you could be removed from the site.
